 Rating: - An Absolutely Delightful FilmIt's probably been at least twenty years since I last saw this film. Yet just the thought of it makes me smile. It's a really wonderful "small" film, but as with anything with Alan Arkin in it, it's nothing but a pleasure to view. It's criminal that this isn't available on DVD. I've been patiently waiting the better part of those twenty years to get it on DVD, to watch it again. Sigh. I guess I'll have to break down and buy a used VHS. The movie is both funny and serious at the same time. It is a satirical look at the life of Montreal born Jewish writer who married a rich gentile. Joshua had a rather interesting upbringing (his mother a stripper and his father a small time gangster) in the Jewish ghetto of Montreal. Filled with mature humor (or immature depending upon your viewpoint) it abounds with warm, but quirky characters much like "Lost in Yonkers" but with an adult perspective.
