Darryl has devoted himself to constantly improving it with modifications like a false chimney that, as he brags to a man sent to estimate the value of the property, makes the house look more picturesque. When the owners of the airport serve Darryl notice that his home is being compulsorily purchased, Darryl hires a small-time lawyer and pursues his case all the way to the Australian Supreme Court. This Australian box-office smash wasn't as successful as The Full Monty in American theaters, but it has something of the same buoyant spirit. The Castle actually plays better on the small screen; its relationship with its characters is much like the farcical intimacy of classic British sitcoms like Fawlty Towers, in which crazed behavior is balanced by the genuine warmth of the whole cast.  Rating:  - My Favorite Movie of All TimesThe Castle is funny and touching. Waiting for Guffman used to be my favorite, but The Castle has moved to #1. It has two of the most classic movie lines ever. "He's dreamin" and "It's the vibe." Too funny. If you have a sense of humor that's just a little bit wacky, you should love this. Rating: - Great comedy with a big heart.Saw this heart-warming film several years ago in an art theater and it's the only movie I've ever been to where the audience applauded. Have hunted for some time trying to find The Castle and was so happy to find it on Amazon. It is one of our favorite films. Shouldn't reveal too much of the story but it is basically about a man, his family and their neighbors who fight to keep their homes from being purchased by a large local airport, to build larger landing fields.
