They poured straight ammonia (we smelled it) into a vial with this litter, upon contact the odor was completely neutralized. My older, diabetic cat used to get the clay stuff trapped in his paws and on his hind legs and I would have to wash and scrub the attached "cement" a couple of times a day because he couldn't reach to clean himself any longer.
