 Rating:  - Great camera, except for distortionI like the Canon 870 because it is easy to use, is compact, has great battery life, and has a 28mm equivilent wide angle lens. The only draw back is the lens quality which is sharp enough, but has noticable "barrel" distortion at the wide angle setting. This causes otherwise straight walls to be slightly curved outwards at the sides of the photo. This is a minor flaw considering the price and value. I would rate higher except that I am concerned that the lens is susceptible to sticking if it gets exposed to sand or grit. My previous SD800 IS died this death a little bit after the 1 year warranty lapsed (and I believe that the warranty did not cover this type of problem anyway). I also like the dedicated button to go to viewing mode. This is a definite improvement over the SD800 IS. Rating: - Cannon supershot cameraWe took the camera on vacation two weeks ago. It took great pictures and was very easy to use and small enough to carry in my hand or hook on a belt. Delivery was faster than I thought it would be even though we paid nothing extra for shipping.
